Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann commented on Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's decision to retire from the national team.
"Although I understand Manu's decision and the reasons for it, his departure is a great loss both in terms of sport and personality. Manu has shaped the goalkeeping position like no other in the history of football with his saves, style, playmaking and charisma. He was not just the goalkeeper of the national team for almost a decade and a half.
His abilities were a decisive factor in how we imagined the game of football. Manuel was and still is a great athlete and a really good person. I often looked forward to talking to him and I'm glad I'll be able to continue to do so. We will miss Manu in the national team," Bayern & Germany quoted the coach as saying.
