Spanish Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini has revealed what he expects from his team's first match against Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih in the Conference League qualifying playoffs to be held today in Kosice.
"We will play against a powerful opponent. After all, it took third place in the UPL after such well-known teams as Shakhtar and Dynamo, which usually compete for the first two places. We have to play well and secure the result - a victory.
As for the appointment of the referee who worked in the Russia-Serbia match in March, this is a UEFA decision. Yes, I understand the doubts about him. It is, of course, unpleasant for political reasons, because of what is happening in Ukraine. But I have no doubt that he is a good referee, because he was appointed by UEFA. Yes, I understand that not the best words will be said against him if he makes a mistake somewhere. Because this will also happen for political reasons," Pellegrini said at the pre-match press conference.
