The controversial English player Mason Greenwood has approved the decision to change his football citizenship to Jamaican.
According to The Sun Football, the Jamaica Football Association has sent an official request to the FA for Greenwood to join their national team, and the procedure has already begun.
Jamaica first tried to attract Greenwood in February 2023, but then the player refused, hoping to resume his career in the England national team. The appointment of Steve McClaren as head coach of the Jamaican national team earlier this month probably played a decisive role in changing Greenwood's position. The former England coach, who knew Greenwood from his time as a member of the Manchester United coaching staff, convinced the player to make the decision.
The two football associations are currently working on the necessary documentation.
