Famous journalist Mykola Nesenyuk told us what he expects from the return leg of the Champions League qualifying round between Salzburg and Dynamo Kyiv, which will take place today in Salzburg. As a reminder, the first meeting between the rivals ended in a 0-2 defeat for Kyiv.
"Relentless statistics show that in almost sixty years of playing in European club tournaments, Dynamo Kyiv has never gone further after losing the first game by two goals. That's the margin of defeat for Salzburg last Wednesday in Lublin.
Theoretically, this means that Kyiv has no chance of making it to the Champions League. In practice, too, although the team, represented by players and coaches, says it will do everything to win back the two goals . And rightly so - what do you want them to say? Another thing is the game itself, which, despite unfavorable prospects, can be interesting. It is unlikely that the current Dynamo will play cautiously - the defense of this version of the team is not the strongest link. Therefore, we will almost certainly see a fairly open game - Salzburg is not perfect in defense either.
Will Dynamo manage to do the impossible in such a game and still win back those unplayable two goals? The events of the last few days have proved once again that we have all been doing the impossible for three years now, withstanding the aggression of a crazy enemy, and still playing football. It's hard to believe in the fairy-tale-like Salzburg, where life goes on gently under the picturesque Alps. It's hard to imagine living under enemy fire for years, rebuilding your life after the destruction. Football is also a life, but it is so different for us and the Austrians, who still have a bunch of our enemies' channels and no Ukrainian ones in their free TV package.
But enough about that - let's just cheer for Dynamo today, no matter what the inexorable statistics say," Neseniuk wrote on his Facebook page.
