Well-known journalist Serhiy Tyshchenko analyzed the list of players called up by Serhiy Rebrov to the Ukrainian national team for the September matches of the League of Nations.
"It seems as if there was no Euro in the summer. Serhii Rebrov continues to form the national team as if it were spring 2024. Everything is going well with us. All our football "grandfathers" are in place.
Serhiy Sydorchuk played 18 minutes in 5 rounds of the Belgian championship for Westerlo. Taras Stepanenko has turned into a rotation player for Shakhtar, who is no longer able to play even at the UPL level. Artem Bondarenko and Dmytro Kryskiv play in the first team, but they are not in the national team. Stepanenko is sitting in reserve, but he is called up. I don't understand why Sidorchuk and Stepanenko need the Ukrainian national team if they won't play there. Isn't it possible to go out with a bang?
Maxi Taloverov showed all his talents in a friendly match for the national team against Poland and at the Olympics. Maxi is not the main player of LASKA. I would understand if these were key players at the national team level, but these are all rotation players. There could be young players in their place. Doesn't Mykhavko deserve a call-up to the national team? Now Didyk is showing strong football, but Taloverov is being called up. I'm glad that at least Denys Popov and Vladyslav Kabaev are in place. Both of them can immediately swing into the main lineup.
Sometimes I get the impression that the Ukrainian national team is exclusively Dynamo and Shakhtar. For the September matches, there is not a single player from outside the UPL who is not one of our greats. There is no Rukh, Karpaty, Oleksandriya, Zorya, Polissya, LNZ, Kryvbas. I understand that the level of players from these teams is lower, but even calling someone from outside Dynamo or Shakhtar as a rotation player is a huge step forward for each club, a huge motivation for all players. Everything is possible. You just need to play," Serhiy wrote on Telegram.
