Joshua Kimmich will be the new captain of the German national team, replacing Ilkay Gundogan, who announced last month that he would no longer play for the Bundesliga side.
Julian NagelsmannThe news was announced by coach Julian Nagelsmann before the Nations League match against Hungary at the end of the week.
- "He is an example for everyone in the team, always gives his best, always wants to train - sometimes too much. He never gets tired, he always wants to win," Nagelsmann said.
Kimmich, 29, has been vice-captain since September 2023. He has played 91 matches for the national team, scoring six goals.
