Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman has said that he was not moved by the words of Stevan Bergwijn, who said that he no longer wants to play under him.
Bergwijn said this in response to Koeman's statement that he would not call up the player to the Netherlands national team because of his transfer to Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia's Championship side at the age of 26.
"These words don't hurt me at all. I only said that I don't consider the move a reflection of sporting ambition. That's all I said.
I have no problem with Staven at all. I'm a coach who has always supported him and given him a chance. Including last summer at the European Championships.
Most players in the transfer process, like Zirkze and de Licht, call me regarding the choices they make and ask me what I think about it. This contact has to happen on both sides," Koeman said.
