Former President of the Football Federation of Ukraine Anatoliy Konkov shared his expectations from the match between the national team of Ukraine and Albania in the first round of Group 1 of Division B of the League of Nations.
Anatoly Konkov- The current rival of Serhii Rebrov's team, the Albanian national team, although not out of the group in the final part of Euro 2024, showed its teeth in the games with Italy and Croatia. What can you say about the Albanian team?
- I didn't manage to get to know the Albanian national team in detail. As for their performance at the European Championship, everything happens. They say that once a year a cannon fires. Nevertheless, the level of Albanian football and the players represented in this national team is quite within Ukraine's reach. As for our national team, I am sure that everything will be fine. After all, it has good guys, so I think that the coaching staff will be able to set them up in such a way that they will demonstrate everything they are capable of. I think the Ukrainian national team should play well in today's match.
- Do you think that the absence of Mykhailo Mudryk and Artem Dovbyk in this match will have a negative impact on our team's performance?
- I think not. We have enough skilled players who can replace them with dignity.
- Is the fact that the match will take place at the stadium in Prague, which will serve as the home arena of the Ukrainian national team, a plus or a minus for our team?
- I believe that it is not even worth paying attention to where we will play with the Albanians - in the Czech Republic, Slovakia or some other country. I am confident that today the stadium will gather enough of our fans to support the Ukrainian national team in its first match of the current Nations League draw.
