President of the Czech Football Federation Petr Fusek commented on the victory of the national team of his country in the match against Ukraine (3:2) in the 2nd round of the Nations League.
"The result and the game of our national team in the match with Georgia (1:4 - ed.) was not worthy of the national team. It was not the best start in the Nations League. I immediately had the desire to contact the team and tell them that this can not happen again and that we must beat Ukraine at any cost.
I hoped that in this match we would rehabilitate ourselves in front of the fans with both the result and the game. And now, we have the first three points. There was a strong opponent against us. It was clear that Ukraine is a good team with top players. But, in addition, we also played against the pressure that was put on us. I am glad that in these difficult conditions we rehabilitated ourselves for the failure in Georgia.
As for the atmosphere in the stands, the Ukrainian fans were really something more than just the visiting sector. Some of the Ukrainians bought tickets at Czech addresses, many of them have Czech documents. We can't avoid it, we all know that there are several hundred thousand Ukrainians in the Czech Republic now. Yes, at times the Ukrainians were heard better than the Czechs, but in general, I think the atmosphere at the match was good," iSport.cz quoted Fusek as saying.
