At the 14th conference of national team coaches and technical directors of national associations, organized by UEFA in Berlin, the achievements of Ukrainian national teams over the past year were highlighted.
One of the key participants of the conference was the coach of the Ukrainian youth national team, Unai Melgosa, who, together with representatives of Italy and Croatia, took part in a roundtable discussion on the success of the Ukrainian national teams. Ukraine is one of only four national associations whose national teams have achieved outstanding results: reaching the European Championships among national teams, as well as in the U-17 and U-19 categories, and qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Apart from Ukraine, only Spain, Italy, and France can boast of similar results.
The first part of the event was dedicated to the participation of national teams in Euro 2024. The organizers have prepared a large amount of statistical and analytical information and research that was collected and conducted during the tournament. The coaches of the national teams of Germany (Julian Nagelsmann), Portugal (Roberto Martinez), Georgia (Willi Sanyol) and Spain (Luis de la Fuente) spoke to the audience.
The second part of the conference, devoted to the work of technical directors, in particular, concerned the analysis of the success of Ukrainian national teams. They discussed the methods that contributed to this and how UEFA can help other associations achieve similar results.
"Very busy and productive days. It allowed us to get different points of view on world football and national team football. We shared our impressions and experience of working in different contexts and under different conditions. And also, thanks to communication, to establish new contacts for Ukrainian football. During this event, the organizers also very clearly highlighted the successes of the entire vertical of the Ukrainian national teams over the past year. And this, in turn, gives even more inspiration for further work and improvement of the entire national team institution," Unai Melgosa shared his impressions.
