Former Vorskla Poltava midfielder Ivan Krivosheenko commented on Dynamo's 0-3 defeat in a nominally home Europa League match against Lazio Rome.
- The day before the match, most Ukrainian experts predicted a draw in the Dynamo vs Lazio match , while Oleksandr Kucher believed in a 2-0 victory for Kyiv. What were you thinking before the game, what was your prediction?
- I also didn't think that Dynamo would lose this game. After all, Kyiv had a good qualification for the Champions League and are now leading the Ukrainian league. And Lazio is far from being a great team in the Italian Serie A, and they didn't start the current championship in the best way. However, everyone understood that there is a difference between the UPL and Serie A, and it is significant, as we have seen.
- Did Dynamo's starting lineup surprise you?
- No, it didn't. Buyalsky could have counted on a place in the lineup, but he is injured, as the head coach said. Mykhailenko hasn't recovered yet either. Seballos also suffered a muscle injury in the first half. It seems to me that these are links in the same chain - the team has a lot of travel and they don't have time to recover.
As for Lazio, they changed 8 players in the starting lineup, compared to Sunday's Serie A match against Fiorentina. They decided to play against Dynamo with a non-starter lineup, because on Sunday they will have a match with the leader, Torino, and away from home. These are the realities now that the class of Ukrainian leaders is visible only on the international stage.
- In the 5th minute, the visitors opened the scoring - Dia went one-on-one with Bushchan without any obstacles and scored a powerful shot into the corner of the net. What do players think about when they miss the ball at the very beginning of a match?
- Such failures make you even more nervous. It is not unusual for Laciale to score such goals, they like to finish flank passes with shots from outside the penalty area, which is how the third goal was scored, for example. And then there was a failure in the center of Dynamo's defense. Sebalios and Mykhavko had just started playing together. In the spring, if you remember, Dynamo had Popov and Dyachuk in the center of defense. Central defenders need to play together, they need to spend a few years together, ideally. Tactically, our defenders acted wrongly.
It's a pity that Sebalios got injured in the middle of the first half, I like the way he acts. He can pass forward and score on a standard. Dynamo hasn't had such an acquisition for a long time. The Colombian reminds me of Yevhen Khacheridi in the way he plays. I also like Taras Mikhavko. It is clear that this is the future of the capital's club and he will still make mistakes. In the second conceded goal, he did not narrow down and allowed the opponent to get into a striking position without hindrance. Well, this is the level of our football now.
- With the score 0-3, was the second half not so interesting?
- No doubt about it. However, it is worth praising the players of the Ukrainian club - they did not stop. Statistics show that Dynamo is ahead in terms of possession, and shots on goal are 9 to 9. There were chances at Provedel's goal, but either the visitors' keeper was lucky or our guys lacked accuracy. In Europe, some clubs can save the situation when losing 0-3, but not Ukrainian teams now. We can't say that Dynamo didn't want to change the situation, but it's not enough. I would not make a tragedy out of this defeat.
- Did you like any of Dynamo's players in this match?
- I can only mention Kabayev and Yarmolenko with a plus sign, Vanat also tried his best. Pikhalenok was disappointing, he dropped out of the game. As for Mykola Shaparenko, he tried to create sharpness at the Lazio goal, but nothing came of it. Many of his passes did not reach his teammates. All these mythical figures about the value of players, inflated by agents and club managers, are only to the detriment of the players. They put pressure on them.
- In October, Dynamo has two away games ahead of them - against Hoffenheim and Roma. What can our team expect in the upcoming games?
- Perhaps we will see some rotation from Shovkovskyi as well. I would like to see the experienced Buyalsky, the forward Guerrero - I consider him the strongest forward in the UPL. I also like Mykhailenko. Even with Lazio, our guys created chances, went forward and did not sit in defense. It is clear that it will be difficult in these games, but the experience of these matches is difficult to overestimate.
- For both Oleksandr Shovkovskyi and Marco Baroni, these were their first games in the main round of European competitions as head coaches. Is this a good school for them as well?
- Of course it is. They are also learning. These meetings will be especially beneficial for our specialist. After all, there are no matches of such intensity and tension in the Ukrainian Premier League. In Italy, the championship is very strong, everyone understands this.
- Since 2004, Dynamo Kyiv has not been able to beat any Italian club in European competitions. And there have already been 13 matches for our grande dame during this time. What should be done to correct this statistic?
- It is not easy to play with Italian clubs in European competitions, as well as the national team of Ukraine. Tactically, the teams from the Apennines are very skilled and disciplined. And the national team of Ukraine has never beaten the Azzurri in 33 years. And Shakhtar suffered with Bologna last week. Their style of play does not suit us at all. Although I wouldn't say that Dynamo played for a 0-3 defeat, it is a fact.
