Some episodes in the life of elite FC Dynamo players of different generations.
Stefan Reszko. He was born on March 23, 1947 in Transcarpathia. Honored Master of Sports, defender. He played for Verkhovyna (Uzhgorod), Lokomotiv (Vinnitsa), Chornomorets (Odessa), Dynamo (Kyiv). Four-time USSR champion, winner of the Cup - 1974, 1978.
He played 200 matches for Dynamo in the national championships.
Winner of the Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup (1975). Played 13 matches in the USSR national team, bronze medalist of the 1976 Olympics in Montreal (Canada).
At first, he learned the trade of a cabinetmaker
Reszko grew up in the countryside in a religious family. His father did not like his involvement in soccer, even at a child's level. It came to parental prohibitions - the Baptist Church at the time did not welcome soccer, considering it a secular pastime. And secular meant hostile. There was no television in this family. Since a "box" in a Baptist home at that time was considered propaganda and therefore a sin. Therefore, the father did not see his son play even when he played for Dynamo.
As a teenager, Stefan moved from the village of Klucharki (Mukachevo district, Zakarpattya region) to Uzhgorod. And there in the vocational school he began to master the profession of a cabinetmaker. But he did not dislike soccer. At the age of 14, thanks to his natural data and character, he became the leader of local teenage soccer. He was accepted to the junior team of the club "Verkhovyna". And at the age of 17 he was promoted to the first team.
Then, having played two seasons in Vinnitsa "Lokomotiv", which was then headed by the famous former goalkeeper of Kyiv "Dynamo" Oleg Makarov, Reshko was invited to "Chernomorets" - a team of the elite division of the USSR championship.
The game of this talented performer was characterized by high technique, speed, plasticity, athleticism, reliability in every match - whether it was a European Cup meeting or calendar in the championship of the country. All these qualities of Zakarpattian were noticed in Dynamo Kyiv and the invitation was not delayed.
Became a shadow of "the nation's scorer" Muller
The year 1975 was undoubtedly unforgettable for Stefan Mihajlovic. On May 14 in Basel (Switzerland) at the "St. Jakob" stadium Dynamo Kyiv defeated Hungarian "Ferencvaros" (Budapest) in the Cup Winners' Cup final - 3:0 and won their first Euro trophy. Stefan Reszko played brightly and reliably in that historic match.
Then Valeriy Lobanovskiy's and Oleg Bazilevich's charges had a meeting for the UEFA Super Cup. The opponent of the Kyiv team was the winner of the European Champions Cup tournament, the famous Bayern Munich (FRG).
In the German team played the stars of world soccer, the current world champions: Zep Meyer, Georg Schwarzenbeck, Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Jupp Kapellman.
The Munich striker Gerd Müller - winner of the 1970 Golden M'yacha - was particularly dangerous. "Bomber of the nation" called this stout, who easily beat the defenders of any team, and in an original manner.
In Munich on September 9, 1975 at the pre-match installation Valeriy Lobanovsky addressed to Reshko: "Stepa, today you must neutralize Gerd Muller. Remember, you have only one person on the field - Muller. He has no right to score for us. And for this you are personally responsible, Stepa. Accompany him everywhere."
"And if he is substituted and leaves the field, what do I do?" asked Coach Reszko.
"And you - after him, it will suit me," - with a serious face replied Valery Vasilyevich.
The guests unexpectedly for many won - 1:0. Oleg Blokhin scored. But Muller, no matter how hard he tried, failed to score to Evgeny Rudakov. Reshko literally glued to the formidable striker and neutralized him.
On October 6 in Kiev during the second match 102 thousand spectators at the Republican Stadium in Kiev did not see a new confrontation between Reshko and Muller. The Bayern striker did not play. A few days before the meeting in the Ukrainian capital, Muller underwent surgery on a thigh muscle. And Blokhin and in the home walls tried, scoring Meyer two goals (2:0).
After finishing his soccer career in 1979 Stefan Reshko graduated from the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, then worked at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, served up to the rank of colonel of police. He was the head of the department, associate professor at the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
