Former general director of Dnipro Andriy Stetsenko commented on rumors that before the final of the Europa League 2014/15 the players of the team bought game uniforms at their own expense.

Andriy Stetsenko

"In principle, there were many such stories. In recent years for some reason this issue has been circulating, it's a mystery to me, I don't understand what they are talking about - about the fact that for the Europa League final in Warsaw the players bought uniforms at their own expense. This is so nonsense.

I read that Rusol and Rotan bought it. This is nonsense, which even at all... I can tell you, since you have already touched on this issue. At that time we had already started to have financial problems. I mean with players' salaries, all sorts of payments, all that kind of stuff.

And since we had a lot of foreigners, when there was a normal financial atmosphere in the club, they were accustomed after the match to take the playing uniforms as much as they wanted and give them to you, the fans, relatives and so on.

Since by that time - we are talking about the final in Warsaw - financial problems began to accumulate, they also affected the unrestrained acquisition of uniforms, and the players stopped, let's say, receiving these shirts, which they were handing out left and right, in the volume to which they were accustomed.

That is, roughly speaking, they came to the final in Warsaw with two or three jerseys - when you go to a match, you must have a spare set of uniforms in the locker room in case of a tear or something else.

Plus, let's say, they were given 2-3 more jerseys to exchange. I do not remember the exact figure, but there were 5 or 6 jerseys assigned to this player Mateus. He knew that he went out in one jersey for the game, and he had 5 more, which he had to change just in case it got dirty, ripped or something else. If it's not torn, he has 5 jerseys that he can give away.

That is, roughly speaking, before they were given 20 T-shirts, but now they have 5. Maybe the remaining 15 had to buy Rotanyu and Rusol to, as they say, to satisfy - well, such a holiday for the whole country. Well, the club could not in such a volume. I can confuse the figures. Maybe it was not 5, but 2 shirts, or not 6, but 3.

But the very essence: the fact that the players went on the field in the shirts that the club provided - that's 300 percent. And what they bought there - to give away or maybe they had some underpants that were the wrong color and should have been a different color. I don't mean underwear, I mean thermal underwear. Maybe they had a sting somewhere.

Let's say they have been buying their own cleats at their own expense all their lives. They have it as a working tool, so buy it yourself - I can't pick up where your toes come out and all that. Well, it's the same here - maybe they bought this with their own money. No question about it. But to make a big deal out of it that the club didn't provide the team that reached the Europa League final with uniforms is nonsense to me.

By the way, if anyone is interested, call Rusol or Rotan after what you just heard, ask them the question again. Let Romani, who likes to talk about it, Vitya Vatsko - let them hear me, and then ask them again. And let's see what they will tell," Stetsenko said.
