FIFA has suspended the famous ex-captain of the Cameroon national team Samuel Eto`o from attending any matches involving his country's national teams of all categories and ages, including the national team, for 6 months, AP reports citing the press service of the organization.
Eto`o, who is now president of the Cameroon Football Federation, was charged in connection with an incident that took place during the 1/8 finals match of the 2024 FIFA U-20 World Cup (U-20) on September 11 between Brazil and Cameroon (3-1). Details of these events are not specified, but said that the 43-year-old Cameroonian was punished for violating disciplinary rules concerning "offensive behavior and violation of the principles of fair-play", as well as misconduct of officials.
It should be noted that this is the second scandal involving Eto`o recently: during the World Cup-2022 he beat up a fan-blogger, kicking him in the head.
