Head coach of German "Hoffenheim" Pellegrino Matarazzo commented on the victory of his team over Dynamo Kyiv (2:0) in yesterday's match of the 2nd round of the main stage of the Europa League.
"We aimed to press as high as possible, because we knew that Dynamo dominate their league, possess the ball a lot and are not used to serious pressing from the opponent. So we wanted to catch them in the wrong positions or just force them into conditions they were not used to.
Our plan was to dominate with possession and create chances at the Dynamo goal. And it worked well, especially in the first half.
I saw a team on the field that acted as a unit, brought energy to the pitch and, in my opinion, played good soccer. That makes me proud.
Four points after two rounds in the Europa League is a good start, which is certainly a positive. We are gaining confidence and energy," Matarazzo said after the match against Dynamo.
