It will be recalled that Oleksandr Kosenko's team began its performances at the 2024 World Cup with a defeat by Argentina (1: 7) in the 1st round of the group round. But then our team only won - Angola (7:2) and Afghanistan (4:1).
After reaching the playoffs, the Blue and Yellows defeated the Netherlands in the 1/8 finals 3-1. Then, in the 1/4 finals, the Ukrainians were stronger than Venezuela - 9:4. In the semifinals of the tournament, Kosenko's wards lost to the future champions - the Brazilians (2-3), and in the match for 3rd place defeated the French - 7:1!
Thus, Ukraine won the first ever FIFA World Cup medals since independence!
