In September 1998, the Georgian national team of Kaladze, Arveladze, Ketzbai, Iashvili, Demetradze, and Kinkladze was ranked 42nd in the FIFA rankings. By the first month of the fall of 1998, the Georgian national team had won four matches (three friendly matches and one official match), drawn two control matches, and lost two. By the way, the team finished the year in 52nd position. Then things got worse.
As a result, in August 2015, the team was ranked 154th: the worst ranking, 156th, was only in March 1996, when Georgia was first ranked in the FIFA rankings.
When Sagnol took over the Georgian national team in February 2021, the team was ranked 89th in the rankings.
