In the first half, the hosts had a complete advantage - they scored seven shots (one on target), while our team failed to respond with any. Ben Futcher's men created three very dangerous chances, with Giraud-Hutchinson posing the greatest threat. His shots in the 16th and 45th minutes were just a little off target. In another case, after a shot by McAtee, our goalkeeper saved it.
After the break, the Ukrainians clearly picked up their attack, and chances began to arise at the gates of both teams. The opponents responded to Voloshin's shot with chances for McAtee and Filodzhin. And in the 71st minute, Unai Melgosa's men took the lead. Ocheretko sent a corner to the far post, and Mykhavko made a great header.
However, the English were able to do more than just win back. In the 88th minute, McAtee took a great free kick and restored the balance, and in the second compensated minute he made a double and brought victory to his team - 2: 1.
Thus, the U-21 national team suffered its first defeat in the qualifying group "F", despite this, it has a ticket to the final tournament. The draw will take place on December 3 in Bratislava.
