Preparing for this match, we were well aware that many of our players are in the national teams. Those guys, who were in the location of the national team of Ukraine, returned to Kyiv on the 15th, got one day off and only then began to prepare for today's match. The players of the youth national team of Ukraine returned in the early morning of October 17, so we could not count on them. In short, we prepared for today's match mainly with those players who were not called up to the national team.
Unfortunately, unfortunately, we can not count on Yarmolenko, he has problems with his Achilles. Pikhalenok is just starting to recover from injury. Ceballos is on his way to gain lost conditioning, but he is not even working in the general group yet. Shepelev is also working individually.
So there are certain problems. It is not easy to prepare when there are only 8 field players in the team. For this reason, we have involved two players from Dynamo U-19 in the training process.
- After a number of substitutions your team reorganized to play with three central defenders. Was it already a preparation for the match with Roma?
- Preparation for the match with Roma will start tomorrow, when we will analyze this team, analyze what it plays for. Every team has its own face, which can change depending on the circumstances, players and results. But Dynamo Kyiv always remains Dynamo Kyiv - with the principles that are in the team.
- Vanat performed the penalty today. Was it your decision for him to break his goalless streak?
- I never interfere in the players' decision on who will shoot a penalty. So it was their decision.
But before the game, I approached Wanat and told him that I missed his goals and I don't remember how it was anymore. He responded with goals for me. And not only to me, but also to the team.
- Was Karavaev's appearance in the main lineup a forced rotation?
- Despite the fact that we had certain problems, when determining the lineup for the game, we always proceed from the qualities of players and how they can complement each other. It is not an easy process.
We know Karavaev's qualities very well. Yes, sometimes he got less playing time than other guys, but he prepares with the team. We don`t have the main squad. Our main lineup is 24 field players and 4 goalkeepers. We determine the starting lineup taking into account certain moments, we make a decision before each game.
