Former Lviv Karpaty midfielder Oleh Holodyuk shared his impressions of the current Ukrainian championship.
Oleg Golodyuk- I would like to discuss with you various current events in Ukrainian football. Who do you think will win the UPL this season?
- I will not be original - the fight will be between Dynamo and Shakhtar. Today, the Kyiv team looks like a more well-coordinated and confident team. "The Miners have already lost too many points.
- Will someone else be able to intervene in this race?
- Polissia has intervened. This club will definitely be among the leaders with its capabilities, but I think they will not be able to claim gold or silver medals.
- Who else do you see in the European Cup zone?
- Kryvbas. LNZ looks confident now. In general, not many rounds have been played yet, so the whole fight is ahead.
- Which teams were a revelation for you at the start of the season?
- I like Polissia. I also like Karpaty. Perhaps what Lupashko is trying to do hasn't yielded good results yet (because the football he offers is difficult to implement), but his attempts are impressive. Good for him! I say this as a neutral fan.
- Who are the most pleasing personalities?
- I'm very happy for Oleksiy Hutsulyak, as my former Karpaty teammate and friend. I see that this is not his limit of possibilities. He received a well-deserved call-up to the Ukrainian national team, as did Oleksandr Nazarenko.
- Our greats have not yet succeeded in European arenas. What do you see as Shakhtar's problems?
- This is a difficult question. I think that the struggle and intensity that Shakhtar are imposed on in European competitions cannot be offered in the UPL today, with all due respect to our championship.
- What about Dynamo?
- To be honest, I like Dynamo. I am impressed by the work of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, their dynamics, intensity, forward play, opening up. They have a good balance in both attack and defense.
Why hasn't Dynamo achieved any results yet? Perhaps there are some objective or subjective reasons. Everyone talks about a difficult schedule, but I wouldn't put it down to that. Because teams want to get to European competitions, and then they start talking about moving. Still, I have a hunch that Dynamo will prove themselves in European competitions.
