The Croatian became the oldest player to play for the "royal club" at the age of 39 years and 40 days. He broke the record held by Ferenc Puskas (39 years and 36 days) since 1966.

Interestingly, Luka Modric also marked this achievement with an effective action that brought his team victory. Just three minutes after his appearance on the field, the veteran gave an incredible assist to Vinicius Junior, who set up the final score.
