The newly appointed coach of Vorskla, Yuriy Maksymov, commented for the club’s press service on his return to Poltava.
— Returning to Poltava. They say you cannot enter the same river twice, but you have managed to do so. What feelings and emotions did you bring to Poltava?
— First of all, it’s pleasant to return to a city where I worked. I have friends and players I once played with. So this is very nice for me.
— Did the guys look at you with the same eyes as before when you first took over the team? Did you manage to stir them up again?
— I wanted them to feel freer and less constrained. The guys understand their position and they also think it’s necessary to fix the situation.
— Did the first training session give you any information about what you will be working on next?
— The most important thing is that they have the drive and desire to play football and to improve their current situation. That’s what matters the most today.
— What tasks have the management outlined for you in the near future and what do you set for yourself and the coaching staff?
— I understand that every coach wants the team to win. The most important thing is for us to get out of the situation we are in. So we will move forward.
— How pleased are you that the fans, upon hearing about your appointment, came to the stadium and started taking photos with you?
— I am pleased, to be honest. These are young people who once watched football and say: "It’s nice that when you coached, the team played well."
