Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher criticized the tactical scheme of Arsenal's coach Mikel Arteta in the match against the Merseysiders (2:2) in the 9th round of the English championship.
“I’ve been thinking about this for a long time, probably going back to their confrontation last year. Since Mikel Arteta worked with Pep, we all consider him a student of Pep Guardiola. If you look at the two most successful coaches in the last 10–15 years, on one side you have Pep, and on the other — almost equally successful — José Mourinho.
Mikel Arteta is slowly turning into a coach like José Mourinho, and no one really thought this would happen. They were leading 2:1, putting pressure on Liverpool, and playing very well, but in the second half the team retreated. Such instructions come from the coach, and this happens to them too often. It reminds me of José at Camp Nou with Inter,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
