On Wednesday, October 30, in the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup, Kyiv’s «Dynamo» defeated Poltava’s «Vorskla» with a score of 2:1 and advanced to the quarter-finals of the tournament. The match took place in Poltava at the Vorskla Stadium named after Alexey Butovsky. We present to you the post-match press conference of the head coach of the capital team, Alexander Shovkovsky.
— I congratulate all the «Dynamo» fans on the victory and on reaching the next round of the Ukrainian Cup. We knew it would be difficult for us today. But I don’t want to repeat myself — I said a lot about this after the match with «Shakhtar».
You saw that today we completely changed the squad. We did this intentionally — considering the next match and taking into account the previous match. We gave the opportunity to play to those players who took to the field today. It was necessary to play for 120 minutes, the guys received additional load, but the main thing is that we accomplished our task and reached the next round.
— Today Guerrero scored his first goal for «Dynamo». How important was this for him?
— Good question, I will definitely ask him. (Smiles). It’s important to score, to feel that. Guerrero worked productively, he fought for the balls, that’s what we expect from him. But basically, any of our players could have scored from the 11-meter mark.
