Former midfielder of Ajax, Real Madrid, and Inter Wesley Sneijder recalled how he was close to the Ballon d’Or after the successful 2010/21 season.

And they tell me: ‘Wes, you had your award stolen in 2010’. Individual prizes are nice, but team successes, winning trophies, the Champions League are more valuable to me than winning the Ballon d’Or,” — said Sneijder to the Daily Mail.
In 2010, Wesley had a fantastic season both at the club level and with the Netherlands national team. He won the Champions League with Inter and reached the World Cup final.
