Every day brings the world several famous people who have closely tied their lives to football.
Oleg Blokhin (1952) — a legendary Ukrainian footballer who played as a forward, holder of numerous records in Soviet football. He played for Kyiv's "Dynamo," with which he achieved the greatest success in his illustrious career, Austrian "Vorwärts," and Cypriot "Aris." Winner of the "Ballon d\'Or" in 1975. Seven-time champion and five-time holder of the USSR Cup. Two-time holder of the Cup Winners\' Cup. Winner of the UEFA Super Cup in 1975. He played 112 matches for the USSR national team and scored 42 goals.
After finishing his football career, Blokhin took up coaching. Oleg Vladimirovich achieved the greatest success as the head coach of the Ukraine national team, leading them to the quarterfinals of the 2006 World Cup. Recently, he managed Kyiv's "Dynamo."
Anatoliy Suchkov (1934-2021) — a former footballer who played as a defender. He is best known for his games with Kyiv's "Dynamo," with which he became the champion of the USSR in 1961. He worked as the head coach of Kharkiv's "Metalist" and Chernivtsi's "Bukovyna." Later, he was a scout for "Dynamo." Among the footballers whose talents were first noticed by Suchkov are: Vladimir Bessonov, Alexander Berezhny, Sergey Baltacha, Anatoliy Demyanenko, Vadim Yevtushenko, Vasily Rats, Andrey Bal, Alexander Khapsalis.
Oleg Shelaev (1976) — a former Ukrainian midfielder who has finished his career. The last club of Shelaev was Kharkiv's "Metalist." Before moving to the "yellow-blues," Oleg represented the colors of Luhansk's "Zarya," Donetsk's "Shakhtar" and "Metallurg," Dnipro's "Dnipro," and Kryvyi Rih's "Kryvbas." Quarterfinalist of the 2006 World Cup. He played 36 matches for the Ukraine national team and scored 1 goal.
Jean-Pierre Papin (1963) — an outstanding French footballer who played as a forward. He represented numerous clubs, including "Marseille," "Milan," and Munich's "Bayern." Winner of the "Ballon d'Or" in 1991. He played 54 matches for the France national team and scored 30 goals. After retiring from football, he took up coaching.
Uwe Seeler (1936-2022) — a former German footballer who played as a forward. For most of his illustrious career, Seeler represented his home club "Hamburg." He was the captain of the West Germany national team. Champion and holder of the FRG Cup. As part of the West Germany national team, Seeler became a silver and bronze medalist in the World Cups. One of the two footballers, along with Pelé, who scored goals in four World Cups: 1958–1970. He played 72 matches for the West Germany national team and scored 43 goals. After finishing his career, Seeler engaged in business.
