It was tough because we only returned to Kyiv on Thursday after the UEFA Youth League game, and we had little time to prepare for today’s match. But it doesn’t matter how we win — 7:0, 10:0, or 2:1 — the main thing is that we took our three points. Before the pause for the national team matches, everyone worked well. We will prepare for the next round.
— How important is it to maintain the three-point gap with «Shakhtar» and not let it increase?
— Unfortunately, we lost points in the match against «Shakhtar», and now we need to get the maximum number of points in each game and keep moving forward, waiting for «Shakhtar» to lose points somewhere. We will go out on the field, work hard and try to win every match.
— Coach Ihor Kostiuk said that after the European Cup match it was important to show that the team is emotionally capable of handling two tournaments. How prepared were you for the match against «Polissya»?
— We did have a very good match in Slovenia, as I already mentioned, there was very little time for preparation. Therefore, we needed to bring emotions into this game because many of our players will be going to the national team after it. It was necessary to go out with maximum effort and squeeze out all the emotions, because there will be a break ahead, many will be resting, while our footballers will play for the national team.
— How would you comment on the execution of moments today? Why did you not create many dangerous opportunities, what was lacking?
— I don’t know, we tried to create moments, but couldn’t score. But it’s not too bad, the main thing is that we scored more than the opponent and won this game. I think everything is fine with the execution, and we will prove this in the upcoming matches.
— What thoughts did you have when you went onto the field, and did you feel that you would be able to score?
— I go out onto the field in every game to score and help the team. Every player from the attacking line, whether starting or coming on as a substitute, should understand that they need to score and bring victories to «Dynamo».
— Was it difficult for you to enter the game from the bench during the match? Is it easier to start in the starting lineup?
— No, it’s not difficult. For me, there is not much difference when to come on. The main thing is that I play.
— There were many collisions, warnings, expulsions, and medical time-outs for assistance on the field, was the game too rough?
— Everyone was focused on this and was ready, since last season «Polissya» took points from us twice and almost kept us from winning the championship. So we knew it would be tough and prepared for it. It’s good that we scored our goals and won.
— Tell us about how you managed to score?
— I saw that Korobov was on the flank, so I moved to the center and waited for a pass from him, and when it came, I shot without even looking at the goal. Overall, Maksym has found good form, and he often manages to assist. In the last match against «Maribor», he provided an assist to Ponomarenko. I like that he strives, and I’m glad that he has made a significant contribution in the second match in a row.
