The first 45 minutes of today’s match in Rijeka were dominated by the hosts. Already in the 7th minute, Dražen Yaman took advantage of a cross from the left flank and directed the ball into the upper corner of the goal with a single touch. The Croatians continued to maintain the initiative and, after almost 20 minutes, doubled their advantage. Tino Kusanovich faced our goalkeeper one-on-one and outplayed him — 2:0.
At the beginning of the second half, Pavlo Lusin could have reduced the gap for Ukrainians, but his shot went over the goal. In the 62nd minute, Oleksandr Sereda burst into the opponent's penalty area, and only a great save by the goalkeeper rescued the Croatians. However, less than 15 minutes later, the "blue-yellow" team finally succeeded. Oleksandr Tkachенко made a solo run and directed the ball into the opponent's net. So, 1:2 — defeat for the Ukrainian team.
The next friendly match against the Croatia team will be held by Ukraine on November 14. The match will start at 12:00 Kyiv time.
Let us remind you, the Ukrainian youth team has completed its task in the first qualifying round of Euro-2025 U-17. The "blue-yellows" finished in second place, which allowed the team to advance to the second stage of the qualifiers, which will take place next spring.
