The first match in Rijeka on November 12 ended with a victory for the Croatians by a score of 2:1. Today, the Ukrainians had a chance for revenge at the same stadium.
Unlike the first match, the Ukrainian team did not allow the opponents to immediately seize the initiative, and a quite equal battle unfolded on the field. In the 21st minute, our team even scored a goal, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside on Pavlo Lusin. The Croatians responded with a dangerous moment at the end of the half when only the post saved the Ukrainians.
At the beginning of the second half, the blue and yellows created three dangerous moments in a row, but the goalkeeper of the hosts played excellently. In the 71st minute, Arsenii Shyskevich had another excellent chance, but his header hit the crossbar. Thus, a goalless draw was recorded.
We remind you that the youth team of Ukraine achieved its goals in the first qualifying round of Euro-2025 (U-17). The blue and yellows finished in second place, which allowed the team to advance to the second stage of the qualifiers to be held in the spring of next year.
