Ukrainian defender Ihor Plastun assessed the performance of the Ukrainian national team in the Nations League for the 2024/25 season.
"You never know what will happen. We are undergoing a generational change, a lot of young players have joined the team, and they are showing good football. Zabarnyi and Sudakov have the strength and skills to be leaders.
I was confident that Ukraine could take points from Albania and Georgia, and I’m glad to be proven right — four points and reaching the playoffs is already good given these tournament circumstances. Now we will wait to see how the draw turns out.
One shouldn't expect stable performances from the youth that veterans used to provide. I believe everything will be fine. We have a great team that plays interesting football. A very bright future lies ahead, and I want fans and journalists not to be too harsh on the team after each match, demanding results here and now. Yes, there is no stability right now, but through these mistakes, they will approach the qualification for the World Cup 2026 stronger," Plastun’s words are cited by "Ukrainian Football".
