The forward of Odesa’s Chernomorets, Ilya Shevtsov, commented on his team’s loss to Kyiv’s Dynamo (1:3) in yesterday’s match of the 14th round of the Ukrainian championship.
“The task was to play football despite the fact that our opponent is currently fighting for first place, not to be afraid to combine, to play reliably in defense, and to try to transition from defense to attack through short and medium passes. We managed to do some of this, while some—did not, the skill of the Dynamo players had an impact.
When the opponent applies pressure at an unfamiliar level for us, it leads to mistakes. Probably, our players' injuries and the absence of the team captain (Bogdan Butko—editor’s note) also interfered with us today, especially since he is a high-level player. However, of course, everything is decided by team actions, and we need to be objective and admit: we were weaker than Dynamo today.
A goal against Dynamo at the end of the match? Yes, it invigorated us a bit: at least we scored a consolation goal,” Shevtsov said on the YouTube channel “UPL TV.”
