UEFA appointed referees for the 5th round of the main stage of the Europa League match between Kyiv's Dynamo and the Czech Viktoria, which will take place this Thursday, November 28, in Hamburg.
All referees are from Portugal. The on-field referee is Luís Godinho. He will be assisted on the lines by Rui Teixeira and Pedro Almeida. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system will also be in use, led by Tiago Martins, who also represents Portugal.
As for the main referee of the upcoming match, the 39-year-old Godinho has been officiating international matches since 2017, and during this time he has worked on 51 such matches (combining club level and national teams in competitions of all age categories).
Godinho's paths crossed with Ukrainian football quite recently: in early September of this year, he was the main referee for a Nations League match between the national teams of Ukraine and Albania (1:2).
In the 2021/22 season, the Portuguese officiated a defeat for a Ukrainian football representative at the club level: under Godinho, Luhansk's Zorya lost significantly to Italy's Roma (0:3) during the group stage of the Europa League.
And with that, the statistics of matches involving the Portuguese referee and Ukrainian teams end.
