The head coach of Cherkasy LNZ, Andres Carrasco, commented on his team’s performance in the lost match of the Ukrainian championship against “Veres” (1:2).
“We knew it would be a tough game. ‘Veres’ hasn’t lost since mid-September. They defend very well.
We tried to play aggressively. We started the game well. Scored a goal. But after that, everything went wrong. First, we earned a penalty. I don’t understand why, but after the break, we switched to long vertical passes. This created periods of chaos in the game. We conceded a second goal after a too soft back pass. And then everything was as always: we played like it was a final match. This time, our efforts at the end of the match were already in vain.
Our team has lost three matches in a row. Can we call this a crisis? I think we have been in a crisis since the second round. Because we should have beaten ‘Olexandriya’ then. And we find it hard to accept that loss. Believe me, we go into every match as if it were a final. That’s where our anxiety and concern come from. And in such psychological pressure, it’s not always possible to demonstrate our best game. Therefore, I defend my players. We are not in the best atmosphere to show our best game at the moment. We are constantly under pressure,” Carrasco said.
