Former FIFA referee Sergey Shebek commented on the statement from Kyiv\'s "Obolon" with a video compilation of refereeing errors in the match of the 15th round of the Ukrainian championship against "Left Bank" (1:1), which, according to the "brewers", influenced the final result of the match.

"Unfortunately, based on what the "Obolon" club has shown, the mistakes of Shandor are fully justified. Let\'s break it down. In the 14th minute, a player of "Obolon" has the ball, rushing into a quick attack down the wing, but the opponent catches up with him and pushes him in the back with his hand. The referee continued the game, although he should have awarded a free kick to "Left Bank." Why the assistant didn\'t help the referee clarify is a mystery.

In the 90+3rd minute, "Obolon" complains that Shandor awarded a corner, after which the hosts equalized the score. And here the referee makes a serious mistake. He did not acknowledge the foul (a push in the back) by the defender of "Obolon." Had he made the correct decision, there would have been no corner kick and no goal scored.

And, of course, the gross mistake of Shandor when in the 81st minute with a score of 1:0 in favor of "Obolon" he did not award a penalty against "Left Bank." In this moment, the host defender Yakymiv uses wrestling moves to take Vladislav Priymak down to the ground with two hands. This is definitely a penalty and additionally a yellow card for the offender. Look where the referee was standing: in an ideal position, he sees everything, but does not react. So where is VAR? And Derevinsky also seemed to be “blind” for a while. He is just as guilty and a violator of the code of honor of the refereeing corps as the referee on the field. How could both not see such a thing?

Just in the previous round in the match "Polesie" — "Zarya," Derevinsky did not award a penalty against the Luhansk team, and VAR referee Omelchenko did not come to help. And so it goes round and round, in every round. For gross and obvious mistakes, instead of punishment, you get another appointment. Now clubs are initiating a meeting with the Refereeing Committee represented by its head Monzul and mentor Rizzoli due to the poor performance of referees in UPL. Will it help? I think not. They will talk, talk and disperse, and everything will remain at the same level.

It reminds me of the words of the sports director of "Obolon," Alexander Reznichenko, where he praised the appointment of Monzul as the head of the Referee Committee in one of his interviews. "With Monzul's arrival, our refereeing has improved," Reznichenko summarized. But has it really improved when "Obolon" frequently complains about refereeing errors? The question will hang in the air for a long time," said Shebek.
