Former midfielder of Kiev Dynamo, Sergey Kovalyets, shared his impressions of the postponed match of his former team against Alexandria (0:0) within the framework of the first round of the Ukrainian championship.
— The match Alexandria — Dynamo ended without any goals, but it was quite interesting. At least from the point of view that two leaders of the championship met.
On the one hand, unexpectedly, but on the other hand, the Alexandria team provided serious resistance to one of our grand teams, continuing the dual leadership in the tournament table. However, the third season of Ruslan Rotan as the head coach of Alexandria shows that the club has chosen the right direction.
The match itself was interesting psychologically, and the result of 0:0 fully corresponds to the course of events on the field.
— Dynamo played three matches in the last week, and all unsuccessfully: first lost in the Europa League to Czech Victoria, then drew in the national championship matches with Kolos and the same Alexandria. Do you think the capital club is experiencing a downturn or a crisis?
— I think the reason is a very tight schedule, which also involves trips abroad. We once talked about the quality of Dynamo's reinforcements in the offseason. However, the injury of one of the newcomers of the Kiev team, Pikhalenko, as well as Yarmolenko, cannot but affect. Both players are leaders of the team.
Moreover, Dynamo currently has a problem in the central defensive zone. I remember that along with Popov, Syrota was being trained there, but he was sent on loan. In general, the Dynamo team has a problem of youth. Young players need time to adapt to a tough schedule. Therefore, both draws of Dynamo are the result of the factors I mentioned.
Chasing two hares is, in my opinion, very difficult for Dynamo. First of all, it needs to focus on the championship matches. Now, Alexander Shovkovsky's team has a lead over its main competitor in the fight for the championship — Shakhtar, so it is important to ensure that this lead does not decrease.
