The head coach of Rovno’s Veres, Oleg Shandruk, commented on his team’s heavy defeat to Lviv’s Karpaty (0:5) in yesterday’s match of the 16th round of the Ukrainian championship.
“Any defeat is unpleasant. A defeat by a large score is even more so. We received a good slap in the face. Let’s see how the team reacts in the match against ‘Dynamo’ (December 15 in Kyiv, — ed.). It will be an interesting game.
But I still want to thank the guys. There was a good, positive streak (before the defeat against ‘Karpaty’, Veres had not lost in 10 consecutive matches, — ed.), in which there were many efforts from the team. Today there were several factors that influenced the result. There was a red card and our mistakes. Such matches happen. At one time, I went through such situations as a player, now I am going through it as a coach.
I also want to thank the fans, there were many of them, and the support from their side was insane today. They were hoping for the continuation of our streak. Today they received neither a good result nor positive emotions. But I can say for sure that in the upcoming rounds the team will look good and deserving.
One defeat cannot overshadow the entire work we did before that. As a coach, I understood that our unbeaten streak would end sooner or later, but I did not think it would happen this way,” said Shandruk on the YouTube channel ‘UPL TV’.
