Coach of Munich’s Bayern, Vincent Kompany, fully trusts young goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, who is preparing to replace the injured Neuer in the last three games of the calendar year, reports DPA.
— He is doing well, he deserves this. He needs to take advantage of the playing time. We have no other plan besides Peretz, — said Kompany before the Champions League match with Donetsk’s Shakhtar.
Peretz, who is a citizen of Israel, joined Bayern in August 2023 and is the third goalkeeper. He is now in the spotlight after Neuer fractured a rib, and his replacement Sven Ulreich is out for personal reasons.
Peretz came on as a substitute in the DFB-Pokal match against Bayer last week, in which Neuer was sent off early for a foul against Jeremie Frimpong, and also played in the match against Heidenheim, which took place last week.
With Neuer out until January, Peretz will debut in the Champions League against Shakhtar and will also play in the two remaining Bundesliga games before the winter break — against Mainz and RB Leipzig.
