Today, December 11, a congress of the International Football Federation (FIFA) took place, where the host cities for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups were officially announced.
The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by Morocco, Portugal, and Spain. At the same time, due to the centenary of the first World Cup in history, three matches of the 2030 World Cup will take place in South America. The opening match will take place in Uruguay (the first World Cup in history was held in this country in 1930), with the local national team playing. The same applies to the first matches of Argentina and Paraguay in the groups — they will play their opening matches on their home fields.
The 2034 World Cup will take place in Saudi Arabia. In this case, the tournament will be held in winter, similar to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, taking into account the climatic conditions of the host country.
It should be noted that in both cases, the bids of the winning countries were the only ones and won without competition.
Let us remind you that the next World Cup, in 2026, will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
