Former goalkeeper of Kyiv’s “Dynamo” Denys Boyko shared in the UPL TV broadcast what prevented the Spanish forward Fran Sol from settling in the Ukrainian championship:
Denys Boyko (photo: Yu. Yuriev)— I remember we played in Chernihiv against “Desna”. Fran Sol was in pretty good shape. It was cold there, the stadium was completely exposed. There were some stands on the sides, but there was nothing behind the goals on either side.
When it’s windy and cold, a temperature of, for example, −5°C becomes −10°C, −12°C in such wind. Fran Sol had a struggle, he landed and landed very poorly on a very hard pitch and he had a shoulder injury that sidelined him for two to three months. After this injury, by the way, Fran didn’t progress further in “Dynamo”, because, in principle, when he arrived, he was in pretty good shape, scoring and always starting. It was precisely after this injury that his career, so to speak, didn’t advance in “Dynamo”.
