Famous coach Oleg Dulub shared how the legionnaires of the Cherkasy LNZ, which he led in 2022, reacted to the war.
Oleg Dulub (photo: fc-lnz.com)— We were lucky. Firstly, the legionnaires started arriving in February, and we spent March-April in Kyiv at the Benfica base, because our field was not ready yet. The base was outside the city, where explosions and sirens were not heard.
Secondly, the Kosovo players Salihu and Yashari have a mentality similar to that of Ukrainians. I understood that it was very important to maintain balance, without overdoing the number of invited foreign players. I was in favor of focusing primarily on Ukrainians in team formation, and then adding legionnaires. Look at who is currently in leading roles in the UPL clubs. In Dynamo—Ukrainians, in Shakhtar—Ukrainians, in Oleksandriya—Ukrainians, in Polissia—Ukrainians. The same story goes for Kryvbas. LNZ chose its development vector,—the coach believes.
