Head coach of Roma Claudio Ranieri after yesterday’s match with Como (0:2) in the 16th round of the championship spoke about the current condition of Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbik, who played the second half in this match.
«Dovbik is still not physically 100% ready. But there was a reason I decided to put him on the field after the break.
In the first half, we often delivered the ball into the opponent's penalty area, but we lacked a player who could finish the shots — we needed a player like Dovbik. That’s why I brought him in to complete our attacking actions. But, unfortunately, in the second half, we couldn’t replicate what we managed to do before the break, and the ball just didn’t reach Dovbik.
First of all, Dovbik needs to improve his physical condition. Otherwise, it will be difficult for him to be useful to the team. But we also need to learn to be useful to Dovbik. I have said from the very beginning that he needs to actively receive the ball from deeper: when he is in shape, he can evade opponents and finish with headers. Today in our actions, there were no such passes to Dovbik,» said Ranieri at the post-match press conference.
