Veres midfielder Vitaliy Dakhnovskyi commented on his team’s defeat against Kyiv’s Dynamo (0:1) in yesterday’s match of the 17th round of the Ukrainian championship.
— It was a tough game — a loss against Dynamo. What are your impressions of the game?
— Essentially, the game itself was not bad, but we are not satisfied with the result.
— Veres once again showed a strong performance against a stronger opponent. Is it easier for Veres to play against giants or direct rivals in the standings?
— I wouldn’t say that. We perform well against all teams. Perhaps the exception was the last game against Karpaty, where, in my opinion, we played very disorganized at certain moments. Therefore, we made those mistakes. It was their best day and our worst.
— In the last third of the match, Veres was getting closer to Dynamo's goal, but could not score. What was lacking?
— Dynamo probably played to the score. We were focused only on scoring a goal. I think we were just a little short of composure.
— Veres fought for survival last season and was considered one of the teams that would fight for survival this season. But you managed to go into the break in 9th place. How would you assess this period?
— Positively, because we are already at least not fighting for survival. I believe that we can do better — we have the potential for that. We made many good transfers that strengthened the team, and now we find ourselves in such a good position. But we will strive to achieve a better result.
— Are thoughts already appearing about qualifying for European cups?
— Actually, we have just three matches to go to the European cups — beat Polissya in the Cup quarter-finals, win the semi-finals and the final.
— So the main focus will be on the Ukrainian Cup?
— Well, not really. (Laughs). We are set to play every match, and then it's all up to God. We will see how it goes.
— Does the club already have plans for coming out of the winter break?
— There are approximate plans. There are no specific dates yet.
