The Deputy General Director of ‘Dynamo’ Sergiy Mokhnyk commented on the actual state of affairs regarding the club’s participation in the single pool of UPL and the unclear comments of the president of ‘Veres’ Ivan Nadeyin.
— I wanted to say that these comments surprised me, but in fact, they did not surprise me. In order to give a competent assessment of the events surrounding the single pool, one must at least have information and understand the issue being commented on.
The football club ‘Dynamo’ (Kyiv) has a long-term contract with ‘1+1 media’ regarding the broadcast of our home matches. We reached out to ‘UPL TV’, agreed with ‘1+1 media’, and found a compromise. But some found this insufficient and again began speculating on the brand ‘Dynamo’ (Kyiv). I believe this is inappropriate and incompetent on the part of the president of ‘Veres’. We do not understand at all why this topic is being discussed. In the course of negotiations with UPL and UPL TV, we clearly and distinctly explained the conditions under which the transfer of rights to our home matches was possible.
Our conditions were so straightforward and understandable that they were unanimously accepted by all UPL clubs, including ‘Veres’, the League management, and ‘UPL TV’ management. This was a significant compromise on our part, and in return, we hear some unclear claims months later. Perhaps someone thought that the appearance of ‘Dynamo’ automatically guarantees them significant profits, but there is a reality that is different from expectations.
Our main condition was showing ‘Dynamo’ matches in free access on the club’s YouTube channel and on the ‘2+2’ channel. The only purpose of this was to give all fans of the team the opportunity to watch the games for free and in full during the war. What moral right do we have to ask for funds for broadcasting our matches from our military, fans who today, right now, are defending our country from the Russian aggressor? We should be asking them to watch our matches, to support us, because it is an honor for FC ‘Dynamo’ (Kyiv)!
If Mr. Nadeyin suddenly has problems with memory, I can remind him that he personally agreed with our position. How? I will tell you. His club voted for the current version of the regulations and all normative norms of cooperation between ‘UPL TV’ and all clubs. If there was disagreement with our position, then why accept the rules of the game, and then publicly express dissatisfaction? What the president of ‘Veres’ said is a cheap attempt to ‘hype’ at the expense of our club. ‘Dynamo’ is a people’s football club. And we will always do everything for our people.
We have the largest audience in this country; our matches gather the largest television ratings, and we have the right to use this for the development of our club system.
For many years we have been doing everything possible to get more fans, so they could watch our matches, including those of teams at all levels. This applies to the first team, ‘Dynamo’ U19, and our teams in the Youth Football League. We do not have the goal of collecting 35 hryvnias for the broadcast of a U19 team match; on the contrary, our task is to allow as many people as possible to watch the matches of all our teams without issues. Such openness helps us gather a few million views each month on our YouTube channel.
I emphasize — only after the war ends will we discuss the commercial component of broadcasts, but definitely not now.
Considering everything said above, if the president of the football club ‘Veres’ finds this unfair, then he has every opportunity with the example of his club to demonstrate how to train players for the Ukrainian national teams from U15 to the national team, to bring his football infrastructure to the European level, to gather the largest audience in the country, and to sign profitable television contracts. If necessary, our club is always ready to share such experience with him.
As they say — call, the hot line is open 24/7!
