On the night of December 21 to 22 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk defeated British fighter Tyson Fury for the second time, defending the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO championship belts in the heavyweight division.
The president of Kyiv’s “Dynamo,” Igor Surkis, congratulated the boxer on his brilliant victory.
Dear Oleksandr!
Congratulations on your latest victory in the boxing ring — the defense of the championship belts in the heavyweight division in the rematch against British fighter Tyson Fury.
You are an example to follow not only for Ukrainian athletes but for all our compatriots as well. Incredible diligence, resilience, and self-sacrifice for the sake of achieving your goals — all these qualities allow you to remain at the top of the world boxing scene for a long time and to glorify Ukraine worldwide.
In the fight against Tyson Fury, you demonstrated a true Ukrainian fighting spirit and character. You were able to show your best qualities and win by unanimous decision, despite your opponent significantly outweighing you in anthropometry and size. Just like our Defenders, who have been bravely resisting an aggressor on the front for almost three years, outnumbering our army in many respects, but not in their desire to protect their families and loved ones from ruthless invaders.
On behalf of all Dynamo fans, thank you, Oleksandr, for the positive emotions and I wish you many more victories in the professional ring, glorifying Ukrainian boxing and sports in general.
With great respect,
President of FC “Dynamo” (Kyiv)
Igor Surkis
