The Polish Football Association announced strict sanctions imposed on Lechia from Gdańsk.
It has been reported that under expanded financial supervision, it was established that Lechia has not settled a number of debts.
As a result, the Committee for Licensing Clubs of the Polish Football Association has decided:
— to suspend Lechia's license for the 2024/2025 season;
— to impose a transfer ban on Lechia, restricting the registration of all new players.
Lechia has already stated that it will find a way to settle its debts and complete the season. However, if the club fails to address this issue, it will not only be suspended from the current Polish championship but almost certainly will also be excluded from the next season's competition.
Let us remind you that currently, two midfielders from Kyiv’s Dynamo are playing on loan at Lechia — Anton Tsarenko (15 matches, 1 goal, 1 assist this season) and Sergey Buleca (8 matches, 0 goals, 0 assists). The loan agreement for both players is valid until the end of the 2024/25 season.
However, Lechia still has time to resolve its issues: the Polish championship is currently in a winter break and will resume only on February 1.
