Having won three qualifying matches for Euro 2025 U-21 in March and September 2024, the youth national team of Ukraine guaranteed its participation in the final tournament of the European Championship — the second in a row. This is the first similar streak in the history of domestic football.
Photo: uaf.uaAfter that, the coaching staff led by Unai Melgosa decided to test the nearest reserve, which affected the results. In four matches in October and November, our team did not achieve a single victory. However, personnel changes were made, the effects of which we will see in the next year. After Euro 2025 U-21, a new youth national team will be formed — consisting of players born in 2004 and younger.
At the European Championship 2025, the Ukrainian national team was put in a group with the teams of Finland, the Netherlands, and Denmark. Our quartet will play matches in Eastern Slovakia, where many Rusyns — ethnic Ukrainians — reside: June 12 — Denmark (Prešov), June 15 — Finland (Košice), June 18 — Netherlands (Prešov).
The quarter-final matches will take place in Žilina, Trnava, Dunajská Streda, and Prešov, the semi-finals will be held in Bratislava and Košice, and the final will be in Bratislava.
