"Napoli" and left-back Mario Rui have agreed to a mutual termination of the contract, according to a statement from the club.
Since the arrival of head coach Antonio Conte, the 33-year-old player has not played a minute in Serie A this season.
Rui's contract was set to run until the summer of 2026, but his limited playing time convinced both sides to decide on the mutual termination of the agreement, leaving the player the option to join any other club as a free agent.
The Portuguese joined the "Partenopei" in 2017 and has made 173 appearances in Serie A for the club, as well as playing 22 matches in the victorious 2022/23 season.
