Nigerian defender Taribo West compared himself to the Italians Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Costacurta and complained that he was not given a chance when he played for “Milan”.
Taribo West“I was a stronger and better player than Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Costacurta. But the team’s head coach, Alberto Zaccheroni, always relied on those two. Who knows why?
Once Maldini fell ill, and I ended up in the starting lineup. I played well and deserved applause. But someone was dissatisfied with me again, and I was sent back to the bench,” said West in his recent interview.
Interestingly, Alessandro Costacurta responded to such a statement from the Nigerian.
“Dear Taribo. Maybe Costacurta was worse than you, but Maldini... My Taribo...,” Costacurta ironically wrote on his Instagram page.
