On Friday, January 3, the postponed match of the 12th round of the Spanish championship took place, where "Real" faced "Valencia". The "Royal Club" managed to clinch the victory with a score of 2:1 in the final minutes of the match, and midfielder Luka Modric became one of the heroes of the match.
The head coach of the "Whites", Carlo Ancelotti, brought Luka Modric onto the field 10 minutes before the end of the match. At that moment, "Real" was trailing 0:1.
Already in the 85th minute of the match, the Croatian restored parity. Thanks to this goal, Modric was able to break the record of the legendary Ferenc Puskas, who scored for "Real" at the age of 39 years and 15 days on April 17, 1966.
From now on, this achievement belongs to Modric, who at the age of 39 years and 116 days became the oldest goal scorer in the history of the "Whites".
It should be noted that this goal was the 40th for Modric. The Croatian has played 561 matches in the "Real" jersey.
