Famous goalkeeper and coach Alexander Gumenyuk has died.
The press service of the club “Dynamo” reports the death of Gumenyuk, who was 48 years old.
Gumenyuk began his football career at Khmelnytskyi’s “Podolia.” In 1990, he joined the youth team of Kyiv’s “Dynamo” at the invitation of coach Alexander Shpakov. He later trained under another well-known Dynamo coach Viktor Kashchey. In this team, he played alongside Andriy Shevchenko, Igor Kostyuk, Alexander Golokolossov, while his competitor for the goalkeeper position was Vyacheslav Kernozenko. Later, the goalkeeper defended the colors of the capital's CSKA, “Dnepr,” “Chornomorets,” “Volyn,” and “Metalist.”
After retiring, Alexander worked as a coach at DYUSH “Dynamo,” “Vorskla,” “Zirka,” and “Bukovina.”
